AN EVENING WITH ETGAR KERET, best-selling Israeli writer and award-winning filmmaker, Mr. Keret will discuss his artistic and professional career through his latest book The Seven Good Years and the movie Etgar Keret What Kind of Animal Are You? After the screening of the movie, he will read from his latest stories as well as engage with the audience in a Q/A session.

 
Internationally acclaimed for his short stories, Keret fuses the banal with the fantastic in his writing and offers a window on a surreal world that is both dark and comic. His books are best-sellers in Israel and have been published in more than 30 languages. Keret has received the Book Publishers Association`s Platinum Prize several times, the Chevalier medallion of France’s Order of Arts and Letters, the Prime Minister`s Prize, and the Ministry of Culture`s Cinema Prize.

Ronit Matalon will discuss her latest novel, The Sounds of our Steps. Matalon is a bestselling writer and novelist and has worked as a journalist for Israel TV and for the daily Haaretz. She has also worked as a critic and book reviewer for Haaretz. At present, she is senior lecturer in Hebrew and comparative literature at Haifa University. She teaches creative writing there as well as at the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem and is a member of the Forum for Mediterranean Culture at the Van Leer Institute.
